My dad died a week ago today – February 23, 2021. Had he passed any sooner, we would not have been able to be with him. As it was, only two at a time in the room. My aunt (his sister) and my children never got to say goodbye. The nurses mercifully looked the other way when my mom, brother, and I stayed for 14 hours with him. We were able to be with him when he died. My mother’s friend’s husband died alone last year at this time. We were so grateful that Daddy didn’t die alone. We can’t have a funeral, so we will have to do that later. However, we will be able to have 10 people present as we do the interment of ashes into the columbarium at their church.
